Engine Oil Longlife 04 at Five Litres

A tool worth owning: the specification most of these engines want, and it is not interchangeable with the 01 or the 17FE.

• Engine: the oils are engine specific and the specification is in the title. The specifications are not interchangeable

• Part number: stated on the pack where the item is a fluid with a specification
• The failure this addresses: the job you could not finish because the right tool was not on the shelf, which is the expensive kind of not having something

• Torque: the angle gauge is the tool that makes a published torque figure meaningful on a stretch bolt, and almost every critical bolt on these engines is one

• Warranty: two years or 24,000 miles, whichever comes first
• Oil specifications: Longlife 04, 01 and 17FE are different oils for different engines and they are not interchangeable. The wrong one in a diesel with a particulate filter shortens the filter's life considerably
• Why we sell tools: because half the jobs on this site are within reach of a confident home mechanic and are impossible without one specific tool
• Electronic parking brake: a wind back tool will not do it, and forcing it costs an actuator. It has to be retracted through the diagnostic system
• Spring compressors: buy one with proper safety catches. This is the one tool on the page where the cheap version is genuinely dangerous

Fitting

Nothing to fit. If you buy one thing from this page, buy the torque angle gauge: almost every critical bolt on these engines is torqued then turned through an angle, and doing that by eye is how a correctly specified repair fails anyway.

Which version to buy

This page exists because half of what we sell is within reach of somebody confident with a spanner, and is impossible without one specific tool. The oil filter cap socket, the torque angle gauge and the vacuum filler between them unlock most of the service and cooling work on this site for under a hundred and fifty pounds. The oils are not interchangeable and the specification is in the title of each.
