Pre Purchase Inspection and Service Package in Genuine Boxed
Add the last seven characters of your VIN in the order notes and we check the fit before dispatch.
A service done properly: a full inspection with a compression test, a diagnostic scan of every module and a written report, plus the service if you buy the car.
We are an independent parts supplier. We are not BMW AG or MINI, we are not appointed by them, and BMW and MINI are their trademarks. What we sell are parts that fit those cars, described as such. Every listing states the chassis codes and engine codes it fits, the production date range, which quality tier you are buying, the labour time the job actually takes, and whether the part needs coding to the car before it will work. Where a part is only made in plastic by the factory and fails because it is plastic, we say so and we offer the metal one.
Specification and fitment
- Fits: 1 Series E87 F20 F40, 3 Series E90 E91 E92 E93 F30 F31 G20, 4 Series F32 F33 F36, 5 Series E60 F10 G30, X1 X3 X5, Mini Hatch and Countryman
- Engine: chosen above. The service schedule and the oil specification differ between them and we use the correct one rather than a universal 5W30
- Production dates: 2004 to 2022. These cars change mid production, sometimes twice in a model year, and two cars built four months apart can take different parts. Send us the last seven digits of your VIN with the order and we check the part against the build record before anything is dispatched. It takes us two minutes and it is the difference between a part that fits and a return.
- Quality: supplied in the manufacturer's own packaging with the manufacturer's part number on it. Worth the premium when a warranty claim or a full main dealer history depends on it, and not otherwise
- Part number: cross referenced to the original equipment number for your VIN and confirmed before dispatch. We do not publish a single number against a listing that covers several build variants, because that is how people order the wrong part
- The failure this addresses: a service interval that has come up, or a service history that needs restarting on a car bought without one
- Labour time: two to five hours depending on the schedule, included in the price
- Coding: the service interval indicator is reset properly through the diagnostic system rather than by the button trick, so the next interval is calculated from the right base
- Also needed: everything is included. There is no oil surcharge and no sundries line on the invoice
- Torque: sump plug and filter housing to the figure. An overtightened plastic filter housing cap is a crack and an oil loss warning three weeks later
- Weight: approximately 16.5 kilograms of parts
- Warranty: one year or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first on the parts and the work
- Oil specification: BMW Longlife 04, 01 or 17FE depending on the engine and the year. These are not interchangeable and putting the wrong one in a diesel with a particulate filter shortens the filter's life considerably
- The report: photographs of everything we found, whether or not you asked us to look at it, and a clear split between what needs doing now and what can wait a year
- Stamped record: a printed and stamped service record, plus the entry made in the car's own electronic record where the chassis supports it
- Battery: the battery must be registered to the intelligent battery sensor after replacement, or the charging strategy stays set for the old battery and the new one is ruined within about two years. This is a five minute diagnostic job and it is skipped constantly
What arrives
- engine oil to the correct specification
- oil, air, cabin and fuel filters as the schedule requires
- spark plugs on petrol engines
- brake fluid
- the labour and a written report with photographs
- a stamped service record
Fitting
At our workshop, two to five hours. You get the old parts in a box if you want them, photographs of anything we found, and a report that separates what needs doing now from what can wait until next year. The service interval is reset through the diagnostic system so the next one is calculated correctly.
Which version to buy
The tier question on a service is only about the filters and the plugs, and the honest answer is that the OE supplier parts are the same items the dealer fits in a different box. Genuine boxed is worth paying for in exactly one situation: a car still inside a manufacturer warranty or a car whose value depends on an unbroken main dealer history. Four words get used loosely in this trade and they mean different things. Genuine means in the manufacturer's box with their part number on it. OE means the same part from the firm that actually makes it, in that firm's box, usually 30 to 40 per cent cheaper. Aftermarket means somebody else's version, which is sometimes as good and sometimes not. Remanufactured means a core stripped, measured and rebuilt to specification, which is not the same as cleaned. Every listing here says which of the four you are looking at.
